Algorithmic trading (automated trading, black-box trading or simply Algo-trading) is the process of using computers programmed to follow a defined set of instructions (an algorithm) for placing a trade in order to generate profits at a speed and frequency that is impossible for a human trader.

  1. The defined sets of rules are based on timing, price, quantity or any mathematical model.

  2. Apart from profit opportunities for the trader, Algo-trading makes markets more liquid and makes trading more systematic by ruling out the impact of human emotions on trading activities.

  3. Trading Rules are nothing but set of trading instructions to the computer which explains

  4. What Instrument to Trade?

  5. When to Enter/Exit?

  6. How many number of shares/lots to trade

  7. Which direction to Trade Long/Short

  8. To trade intraday or positional

Why people move to Algo trading?
